Atherton Godfrey has become the official Partner Sponsor of Sheffield Together 2020, a sponsored run /walk organised by Cavendish Cancer Care.
It’s a ‘beautifully muddy event’ and its 5k or 10k circuits make it suitable for all ages and abilities’. Entrants are encouraged to bring along the kids or even the dogs. Or those up for a challenge could join with a group of friends and run the circuit. However they choose to do it – their support will help raise much needed vital funds.
In 2019 the event was extremely popular with university sports clubs, families who have used Cavendish services as well as individuals wanting to take up a challenge. Between them, they raised £7,000 in sponsorship money.
Julie, one last year’s entrants, said: “Following my own cancer treatment and fantastic support from the Cavendish Centre, I decided to sign myself and my children up to Sheffield Together as a way of raising money to give back to the centre.
I walked/ran it with my 8 year old son, while my 10 year old daughter charged off ahead! It’s a really well organised event – well marshalled and signposted – in a lovely location. We will be having another go this year!”
This year’s event is set to be even bigger and better and will follow a brand new route through a stunning area of ancient woodland.
Are you up for it?
The event kicks off at 9.30am on Sunday 8 March 2020 at Ecclesall Woods, Limb Lane, Sheffield S17 3ES. Register your interest now and take advantage of early bird savings – www.sheffieldtogether.co.uk
Cavendish Cancer Care is a Sheffield based charity dedicated to improving the quality of life for people living with cancer. Since 1991, they have been working with people across South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, offering free of charge emotional support, counselling and complementary therapies to patients, their carer’s and their children.
The charity only receives enough funding from the NHS to keep their doors open for 2 weeks – so rely on events like Sheffield Together for the vital funds they need to keep the centre running.
