Clinical negligence work wins top ranking

The ranking was achieved following extensive research amongst clients and professional peers.

Chambers UK say: "This firm's clinical negligence team ‘brings much skill and effort to each case it handles,' for claims across a wide range of value brackets."

The teams ability to undertake a wide range of work including birth trauma, late diagnosis and surgical negligence, plastic surgery and dental issues, as well as fatal claims, also won praise.

A further point noted was that the clinical negligence team has close links with the firm's strong family team and private client departments, meaning that clients can draw on advice concerning probate, trusts, deputyship and related matters arising out of medical negligence claims.

Two individual members of the team also gained accreditation, with Chambers commenting:  "John McQuater is head of the firm's litigation department and conducts overall supervision of the firm's clinical negligence team. He principally handles cases involving surgical negligence and issues with diagnosis, and he frequently speaks as a lecturer at events for legal professionals.

"Sources commend Bob Allen for his ‘excellent judgement', and describe him as ‘first rate'. He specialises in birth injuries, particularly those involving cerebral palsy, and he also acts in cases involving diagnosis issues. Peers say that he is ‘perfect for this type of work'."
