Firm shortlisted for national award

We have been nominated in the Best Recruiter  and Best Training Principal categories of the Training and Recruitment Awards (TARA’s) organised by London based online training and recruitment specialists LawCareers.Net. The awards are a trusted resource for trainees and are a highly sought after accolade for law firms.  Each year, around 3,000 trainees and newly qualified solicitors are surveyed to get a picture of the best performing organisations throughout the UK. To be shortlisted there must be clear evidence that the trainees are given the appropriate support, encouragement and mentoring to be able to reach their full potential. Firms also have to demonstrate that their recruitment process is fair and transparent and that applicants are kept well informed throughout the process.Diane Parker, partner and head of personal injury is also the firm’s training principal. She said: “We operate a robust training programme, but one which equips the next generation of solicitors with the essential mix of skills they need to excel in their chosen profession. “Many of the firm’s senior solicitors and partners, including myself originally trained with Atherton Godfrey. This is clear evidence of career progression and acts as a driving force for the trainees.””We are very proud that the high standard of our training and recruitment is recognised.”Matthew Broadbent, Law Careers publisher, said: “Being nominated is a significant endorsement of the firms’ recruitment. The awards offer candidates a crucial insight into which organisation really gets their training and recruitment right.”  Atherton Godfrey currently has six trainees among its 127 staff force, all at various stages in their training contract. Asia Munir, one of the firm’s first year trainees, said: “Diane is an excellent training principal, she is very involved and has an open door policy – we all know we can go to her anytime we need to.”Another benefit of training here is that Atherton Godfrey is a full service firm so you get to experience all the different practice areas, which is really valuable if you’re not sure what area of law you want to specialise in.”  The awards will be held in London on 21 May.
