The aim of DJL is to provide a network for Doncaster's junior lawyers, where members can find practical support and get involved in a host of social events.
The group is affiliated to Doncaster and District Law Society and has been established thanks to the hard work of Alistair and colleagues Phil, Janine, Laki, Ollie, Leanne and Lindsey. Membership is open to students, trainees, solicitors and legal executives with 0 to 5 years PQE and paralegals from firms throughout the town.
DJL wants to expand its current committee, so that it becomes representative of the many different law firms, and legal practitioners, that make up Doncaster's vibrant legal community.
The DJL committee is currently:
Organising future events for its members and non members alike;
Using social media to keep Doncaster's legal community informed of social events and topical legal developments;
Working with sponsors to help fund their activities and future events;
Working with local businesses to expand the membership benefits offered by the group.
The DJL committee is aiming to:
Work with local Charities;
Liaise with local Schools, Colleges and Universities;
Establish links with local businesses;
Appoint a Junior Parliamentary and Court liaison Representative.
Alistair, current chair of the group said: "The team hopes to create something of an institution, which the Junior Lawyers of Doncaster can be a part of for years to come. I am confident that this time next year there will be a new chair of the group, taking us forward into 2014 and continuing the good work achieved so far."
