Legal training at its best

Last year, the firm won the Best Recruiter award, and has now been shortlisted in two categories of this year’s prestigious Training and Recruitment Awards.
The awards, organised by LawCareers.net, are based on extensive research and aim to honour the firms and individuals throughout the UK who have given their trainees the best possible start in their legal careers.
We are shortlisted in both the Best Recruiter and Best Training Principal categories.
Atherton Godfrey currently employs almost 130 staff, including six trainees at various stages of their two-year training contracts. These will shortly be joined by a further two trainees who have already been selected.
Diane Parker, partner and Training Principal at Atherton Godfrey, said: “Qualifying as a solicitor is not an easy task, it is a very competitive environment and training contracts are at a premium and are very hard fought for.
“Law is not a career for the fainthearted either. To succeed takes a lot of determination and commitment over a number of years and the student needs to be prepared to work long hours to meet client deadlines.
“At Atherton Godfrey, we are proud to be able to offer our trainees high quality work placements and a robust training and development programme that prepares them well for the profession.
“Training programmes includes six-month ‘seats’ in various departments, giving the trainee a good understanding of how the law is applied across a wide range of areas including family law, commercial law, personal injury law and private client law. Once qualified, the trainee will then specialise in a particular area. ”
Diane added, “Last year was the first time ever that one of these awards came back to Doncaster – we would be delighted to repeat that success again this year.”
