Bob qualified as a solicitor in 1983. He was previously a partner and head of the personal injury department at Atteys Solicitors before joining Atherton Godfrey in November 2010.
Bob’s principal area of expertise is in clinical negligence litigation. He is a member of the Law Society’s Clinical Negligence Accreditation Scheme. He has wide experience of all aspects of clinical negligence litigation, with particular expertise in birth damage and cerebral palsy cases. Bob is also a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) with accredited status as Senior Litigator.
Bob was the claimants solicitor in the case of Roe vs Sheffield Light Railway Limited and Sheffield City Council and others (2003) EWCA CW1: (2003) 2WLR: (2004) QB653, a test case arising out of road traffic accidents in which motorists lost control of their vehicles because of the presence of tram tracks in the highway. The multi party litigation, in which over 130,000 documents were disclosed electronically, went to the Court of Appeal on a number of issues before resolving in favour of the claimant.
