Domestic Violence

Domestic violence is any single incident or pattern of incidents of controlling, coercive or threatening behaviour, violence or abuse between anyone who is or has been, partners or family members.

The abuse can be, but is not limited to:

• Psychological
• Physical
• Sexual
• Financial
• Emotional

Domestic violence is experienced by both men and women of any age and by people in same sex relationships.

Stay Safe
If you have decided to leave and plan to research your escape online, beware that your abuser could track the sites that you visit. If at all possible, use a computer that they do not have access to; most libraries have free IT facilities. Failing that, use the ‘private browsing’ facility – don’t delete the cookies or clear the browser history - both could alert your abuser.
