We took part in a virtual careers fair for the University of York this week. It was great to speak to students who are thinking of a career in law.
The students who took part in the virtual event were keen to know more about a day in the life of a solicitor and asked about our solicitors’ experience and background.
John and Diane are great advocates for progression in the legal sector, as they both began with Atherton Godfrey as trainee solicitors. They now head specialist departments and work with the country’s top barristers and medical experts.
John is a highly regarded solicitor who handles the most complex of injury cases. He belongs to a range of specialist personal injury and clinical negligence panels and is an accomplished author in the subject. He shares his expertise by acting as an assessor for several of the accreditation panels and by delivering training for personal injury lawyers throughout the UK, as well as our own inhouse teams.
Diane has a dual role at the firm. In addition to being head of the personal injury department, Diane is also the firm’s training principal. It’s her responsibility to make sure that the firm recruits high calibre trainee solicitors. She also devises training plans and carries out supervision to make sure that our trainees get the support and guidance they need to help them develop a successful legal career.
The trainees clearly appreciate Diane’s approach, as their nominations have led to her being a frequent finalist in the Career.Net Training and Recruitment Awards and a winner of the Best Recruiter award.
